My name is Greg Maupin. I am the owner and lead inspector of McLane Home Inspections LLC right here in Colorado Springs. After more than 35 years working in residential construction—from structural framing to high-end remodeling and master-level finish carpentry—I’ve decided to launch this blog to share something different: practical, straight-talk building science intelligence.
I didn't learn about houses from a textbook or an accelerated online course. I spent decades on the job site across different regions of the country: framing homes in Southern California, spending two decades in Central Texas focusing on precision trim carpentry, and custom tile installations, before finally transitioning to executing whole-home remodels, kitchens, baths, and basements right here in Colorado Springs. I physically assembled these structures.
